The energy is different this week.
On Saturday, May 3rd, the DGA Tour heads to Eaglesticks Golf Club in Zanesville, Ohio, for its first Major of the 2025 season: The Eaglesticks Invitational—a high-stakes showdown with big points, bigger payouts, and a course that demands precision from tee to green. With the tour’s best battling from the blue tees, and a leaderboard already heating up, this weekend will define early momentum in the race for the DGA Cup.
Oh, and in case anyone forgot—this isn’t just another stop on the schedule. This is a Major, and 80 points are up for grabs.
2:17 PM – Harry Gilmore, Mike McGuire, Kyler Messner
The opening group features one of the season’s most dangerous players—Kyler Messner—teeing it up alongside two of the tour’s most unpredictable. Messner is fresh off a runner-up finish at The View Open and currently sits second in the season standings. With 9 pars and a birdie in his last outing, he’s proven that clean golf travels, and he’ll be eyeing his first win of the year on one of the tour’s more demanding tracks.
Mike McGuire enters his second start still adjusting to a new bag of clubs, but his five pars at The View suggest he’s close to turning the corner. If the irons start cooperating, Mike could be a sneaky contender. Meanwhile, Harry Gilmore is back on the tee sheet and—presumably—still without shoes. What kind of impact will that have? Unclear. But if Eaglesticks is known for anything, it’s punishing players who aren’t properly grounded.
2:27 PM – Shea McGuire, Trevor Monk, Seth Paszke
This middle group brings a fascinating blend of control, championship pedigree, and total mystery.
Shea McGuire has already shown he can keep it between the lines, with 7 pars and zero triples at The View. He’s just a birdie or two away from serious contention, and a major setting might be the place he finds them. Trevor Monk, the reigning DGA Champion, will be looking to bounce back from a middling finish in the opener. He flashed promise early last time out, but a shaky back nine left him off the pace. Eaglesticks gives him a shot at redemption—and a chance to remind the league why he wore the crown in 2024.
And then there’s Seth Paszke, whose last outing was a tale of two nines: a promising 45 on the front followed by a 52 on the back. If he can keep the wheels from falling off this time around, the lefty might just play his way into the points conversation.
2:37 PM – Will Eyman, Dylan Sharp, Auston Sorg, Jack Spence
The final group of the day is packed with storylines—and one very obvious fan favorite to watch.
Jack Spence, the breakout winner at The View Open, leads the DGA Tour in both points and beer generosity. He won in a playoff, chipped in clutch moments, and casually dropped three birdies in his league debut. He’s also the only player this week with a target on his back. Can he go back-to-back and win a Major in his second start? The talent says yes—but Eaglesticks doesn’t play favorites.
Auston Sorg, who pushed Spence to the brink in that playoff, has been buzzing ever since. With six pars, a birdie, and no warm-up season whatsoever, Sorg proved he’s ready to go toe-to-toe with the tour’s best. If he finds a rhythm early, he’ll be dangerous again.
Will Eyman and Dylan Sharp round out the group. Eyman had a flashy birdie at The View but also racked up three triple bogeys, showing just how thin the margin of error is out here. If he can tighten up around the greens, his ball-striking could carry him. As for Dylan—he’ll be there. He’ll swing. He’ll smile. And if he breaks 100, it’ll be cause for celebration (and maybe a merch drop). At this point, the tour just appreciates his unwavering presence.
Major Moment, Major Stakes
The Eaglesticks Invitational marks a turning point. Not just because it’s the first Major, but because it sets the tone for what separates the contenders from the crowd. With increased prize money ($60 to the winner), a full spread of points, and a more demanding setup, this isn’t the time to coast. It’s the time to rise—or start falling behind.
The DGA Tour rolls into Zanesville with energy, ego, and the leaderboard in full swing. On Saturday, we find out who’s ready to cash in.
